The distillery was founded between 1825 and 1833 by the brothers George and John Rate, it was originally named Milton Distillery. Matured in American oak bourbon casks with some finishing in Amontillado sherry butts for the distillers edition. Known as the ‘Edinburgh Malt’, this is a Lowland whisky, with floral and grassy characteristics, a fine balance of sweetness and dryness and a fragrant finish. Glenkinchie Lowland Malt has a light delicate nose and a fresh, clean aroma.
